Charles Finny is a BusinessDesk columnist, former diplomat and trade negotiator writing on trade, foreign policy and government relations.
Charles was appointed Chair of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) in March 2025. Before this, he was employed by the government relations consultancy Saunders Unsworth in Wellington. He has served in roles where he helped to achieve free-trade agreements with Singapore, China and Taiwan. Charles also served as New Zealand's deputy ambassador in Beijing and as director of the NZ Commerce and Industry Office in Taipei.
